Toyota India Is all set to launch its C segment entry-level sedan -The Yaris. The car is expected to arrive in town anytime between the months of April to May. The dealerships have already started accepting pre-launch bookings for a refundable amount of Rs 50,000.The Toyota Yaris made its Indian premiere at the Auto Expo 2018. The company with the launch of the car wants to tap in an audience of buyers looking for a C segment sedan for the very price range which the company wasn’t able to attract with its previous launch of Toyota Etios.
Engine and Transmission:
The car will supposedly be running on 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine. The petrol engine puts out 108PS of max power and 140Nm of peak torque and will come with a choice between a six-speed manual and a seven-speed (step) CVT that will be well optimized willing to provide a mileage of almost a 17km/ltr. The car might not have a diesel variant this while.
Dimensions:
The car sometimes seems to be inspired by its expensive sibling corolla. Toyota has always been practical with its sense of designing. Yaris is shorter in length, measuring 4,425mm Compared to the competitors like the City (4,440mm) and Ciaz (4,490mm). The car too has a shorter wheelbase (2,550mm) as compared to the City (2,600mm) and Ciaz (2,650mm). However, it is wide as the Ciaz. The cabin has a lot of practical storage compartments. Dual tone dashboard and the looks and designing of it are something that sure will be able to compete with its rivals in the segment.
Safety features:
To make the drive safe and to make it an option good enough for a buyer considering safety on the ride.Yaris has been awarded five stars in ASEAN NCAP crash tests, which is very reassuring. The car is loaded with a couple of features like with a segment-first safety kit, seven airbags including a driver knee airbag, Hill-Start Assist, ABS with EBD and brake assist, disc brakes on all four corners and ISOFIX child seat anchors as standard.
Equipment List:
The car will come up with the features like projector headlamps, daytime running LEDs, a 7-inch infotainment system, tail lamps with LED graphics, auto climate control with roof-mounted rear AC vents and a powered driver’s seat.Yaris will feature some segment-first features like gesture control for the touchscreen infotainment system, a tire-pressure-monitoring system, 60:40 rear seat split, adjustable three-neck restraints for the rear seat and front parking sensors. These features will be available on the top-end variant, Lower variants will have another features list.
Pricing:
The expected price segment of the car is almost 8.5 to 10 lakhs which aren’t too high for an entry into the C segment and that too when you are willing to compete with some of the best selling cars of the segment like the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna or even the legendary Honda City.
The car will be offered in 7 colors: Pearl White, Silver, Grey, Black, Super White, Blue (Dark or Light) and Brown. The car so far on paper seems to be offering a lot for the price it will be available for and is at par to be competing with its rivals. Be that looks or performance, the car is ready for the competition but we can only speak well about it only once after its launch.
